We are so excited that doTERRA has now added Spikenard essential oil to their permenant collection! Spikenard is a flowering plant that grows in the high altitudes of the Himalayas. This essential oil has been used for centuries in Ayurvedic health practices and religious ceremonies. The oil comes from the roots of the plant, which gives it an intense woody and musty aroma. The unique chemistry of Spikenard give us the ability to experience a wide aray of powerful and diverse benefits.
Spikenard has some of the most coplex chemistry of any essential oil. The oil contains over 170 different components. 97 percent of them exist at less than 1 percent of the whole. Almost every class of essential oil component is represented in Spikenard oil: alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, oxides, esters, monoterpenes, and sesquiterpenes. The vast diversity of chemistry enables us to use this essential oil to support our health in many ways.
